Trip to Auckland War Memorial Museum

For this activity Ls2 went to the Museum.

We went to the museum to finish off our topic of Volcanoes.

Classroom challenges – explain this using the information on the right

Tell us what you did, where you went and one interesting fact from the walk around the galleries

Tell us one interesting fact from the classroom time.

And we also  had 30 seconds to decide what to pack if there was a volcanic eruption near us.

Our group had to make wise choices so they could stay safe in the event they were evacuated.

When we where in our groups all of the groups hade to bring only one bag to put our lunch’s in bag.

And in one of the activity’s we hade to be in groups of 5 for this change and the lady was explaining about what to do when there’s a volcano near you it like packing for camp but it’s not so there was some safety staff for coapale of days.

when the lady set up a 10 minute timer like who can pack there bags the fast it’s but you don’t need every thing you can leave some stuff behind too.

So we packed toys, can of food, can opener, cat food, your Anmail, water bottle, tea towel, first aid kit, mask, colouring book, reading book, goggles, back pack.

I enjoyed all of the activityes we all did all together.

I need to get better at finding some facts about the dinosaur.

Diary WW1

LI: To retell an event in history through the fictional eyes of someone who was there.

For this activty I did a

Embed your DLO on your blog.

We have been looking at the events that took place at ANZAC Cove on 25 April 1915, during WW1. Many of our NZ soldiers were wounded or killed in action. We looked at videos of life in the trenches, explored the Walking with ANZACs site and read Hami Grace’s diary.

Doing this helped us put our own diary entries together.

We used Google Vids to record our diary entries.

I enjoyed doing the a Diary.

I need to get better at writing faster and spelling too.

Matariki

LI: Identify Matariki as the Māori New Year and explain its cultural importance.

LI: Explain how the rising of Matariki signaled a time of celebration, reflection, and preparation.

LI: Create a piece of work that expresses their understanding of the significance of the Matariki stars.

For this activity I did a Matariki star for the Matariki New year.

To explore Matariki we worked collaboratively to complete a series of challenges.

Something I learnt was was

My favourite challenge was  because

I enjoyed doing the Matariki star with my friends.

I need to get better at is finding a maori sentence for the Maori New year.

Mary Anning

LI: To create a DLO that tells Mary Annings story from her perspective story.

For this activity I did a DLO of this old lady could Mary Anning.

First I reached all about her like how is she and when is she born.

Before we take part in our own dinosaur dig LS2 were challenged to capture the story behind Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter and paleontologist during the early 19th century.

Something I learnt was what I learnt about Mary Anning that she was born in Lyme Regis and she has passed away on 9th of  March 1847.

I enjoyed doing the walker and reaching about her

I need to get better at writing faster and the spelling too.

Fossils

LI: To understand how scientists know so much about dinosaurs.

LI: To recognise different types of fossils and how they are formed.

Embed your DLO on your blog.

Our challenge was to create a Google Draw that shows clearly labelled  examples of each fossil type.

Something I found this interesting was that the fossil is 3.2 millions of years old.

What I need to get better at is reaching about the fossils more and typing more faster and spelling.

I enjoyed doing the reaching with my group and talking about what happend a long time ago like how old is the fossil, when was the fossil born too.
